Milan will part ways, willingly or not, with a pair of veterans, Olivier Giroud and Simon Kjaer, and would prefer avoiding high-profile departures like the Sandro Tonali one, but the future of some other regulars hangs in the balance anyway, La Gazzetta dello Sport relayed.

Luka Jovic needs a strong finish to stay as a deputy. The Rossoneri won’t pick up their option to extend his contract but could renegotiate the figures.

Milan are plotting to revamp their midfield. Ismael Bennacer and Yacine Adli are both potentially expendable. They turned out to be incompatible. It’s likely just one of the two will keep being part of their squad. The valuation of the Algerian is about €30M.

Instead, the youngster was signed for €9M in 2021. It wouldn’t be too hard to turn a profit on him since he has fared decently after adapting to a new role this season. Though, the brass would like to see more consistency. They intend to increase the level of physicality at the position.

Stefano Pioli might be on the same page. Both could begin on the bench in Thursday’s return leg versus Roma in favor of Tijjani Reijnders and Yunus Musah.

Our Take on the Milan Plans

Bennacer has only seldom performed at a high level, but that was expected as he’s coming back from one of the worst possible knee injuries. Adli has turned into a nice deputy who brings something different to the table. There’s no reason they can’t simply add to their midfield without selling anybody.
