Popular 'Bent Chetler' Ski Used By Canadian Internet Provider For Advertising

Chris Benchetler's signature skis, the 'Bent Chetler', are among the most popular skis in the world. From park to powder, odds are you've seen them at your home hill.

One skier, however, spotted a Bent Chetler in a rather odd place. The ski had been painted over, and labeled with the logo for 'Telus', a popular Canadian telecommunications company. See below.

The image was shared to Reddit without much context. All we know is that the ski is clearly a Bent Chetler, and that this photo was taken somewhere in Whistler, BC.

Is this part of a clever marketing scheme by Telus (the Verizon/AT&T of Canada), or did a rogue employee decide that he or she simply wanted to decorate this particular device with a little more flair?

It's hard to say, but kudos to whoever took the time to carry this out. It's borderline criminal that they painted over Chris Benchetler's beautiful illustrations, but it's undeniable that their marketing/attention-grabbing ploy worked.

It begs the question- Should mundane infrastructure be decorated with skis more often? It has me thinking...
