The Cavalry is Coming!

As the weekend approaches, baseball fans can’t wait for the upcoming games. With the second game of the series between the Texas Rangers and the Atlanta Braves just around the corner, there’s a lot of anticipation. In exciting news for Rangers fans, the team announced that first baseman Nathaniel Lowe had been activated following his recovery from an oblique strain that kept him sidelined for the season’s first three weeks. Fans are eager to see how Lowe performs in the upcoming games and how his return will impact the team’s overall performance. It’s worth noting that this was the first injury of Lowe’s career that landed him on the injured list, but it seems like he has recovered well and is ready to help his team.

Lowe took a rehab assignment first with the Rangers’ AA affiliate, the Frisco RoughRiders, before joining the AAA affiliate, the Round Rock Express, to finish his recovery. His rehab assignment got off to a rocky start, but he got back into the groove fairly quickly. In his time with the Minors, he slashed .150/.292/.350 across six games. He went 3-24 with five runs, one double, one home run, four RBIs, three walks and no strikeouts.

With the activation of Nathaniel Lowe, a corresponding roster move had to be made. Jared Walsh was designated for assignment to make room for Lowe. Jared Walsh platooned at first base along with Ezequiel Duran. However, he made some costly errors that likely led to this decision. The Rangers’ bats have also been strangely silent. Hopefully, Lowe’s return will bring them to life once again.

We are deeply saddened to hear that Jonah Heim’s mother-in-law passed away last week while the team was in Detroit. Jonah has been placed on the MLB Bereavement List and is returning home to support his family during this difficult time. Our hearts go out to the Heim family, especially Kenzie, as they navigate this heartbreaking loss together. To ensure the team is well-supported, catcher Sam Huff has been recalled from Round Rock to stand in for Jonah. We hope the Heim family finds comfort and strength in each other as they grieve their loss.
