The Reds are signing veteran Mike Ford to a minor league contract according to MLB insider Jon Heyman. The deal will be worth $1.3 million if Ford makes the big league club.
Ford hit 16 home runs and had 34 RBI in 83 games for the Mariners last season, mostly serving as their designated hitter. He gives the Reds another proven power bat that will have to push for a spot on the big league club.
Cincinnati also signed veteran Tony Kemp to a minor league deal on Friday.
