Florida Gators Have Big-Time Shot At Defensive Prospect
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Billy Napier and his Florida Gators have been diligently working on college football recruiting efforts since the reopening of the contact period. Their focus extends not only to the upcoming 2025 cycle but also to the subsequent class in 2026.

One prospect catching their attention is four-star defensive lineman Richard Anderson from Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Standing at 6 feet 3.5 inches and weighing 325 pounds, Anderson is a formidable force in the trenches.

In a recent interview with Gators Online, he disclosed his top choices, with the Florida Gators prominently featured.

“It’s LSU and then the University of Florida,” Anderson stated, outlining his current preferences.

Anderson’s recruiting journey has been closely followed by industry experts.

According to On3 rankings, he holds the impressive positions of No. 139 overall and No. 14 among defensive linemen nationally. Rivals also recognizes his talent, ranking him at No. 160 overall and No. 13 among defensive linemen.

Despite these accolades, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives LSU a strong 98.1% chance of securing his commitment.

While the odds may not favor the Florida Gators, they’re certainly giving LSU a run for their money. Hopefully, the prediction machine ends up being wrong with their belief.
