In the inaugural game of the season against Ball State, Barion Brown returned a kickoff 99 yards to the house. Last season, Brown returned another kickoff for a touchdown, which set him up for a great season on special teams. It seems that the same is destined in his sophomore campaign.

However, EKU Colonels football coach Walt Wells has a master game plan to make sure Brown doesn’t kill his team on special teams. So, what’s the secret? How about making sure Brown doesn’t even make it to the field.

In a teleconference on September 5th, Wells said, “We’re gonna kidnap Barion [Brown] when he comes off the bus for the Cat Walk, and we’re gonna tie him up until after all the kickoffs are over.”

Wells has a strong connection with the Kentucky football team and even Barion Brown specifically. Wells served as a quality control analyst under Mark Stoops for two seasons at UK. In addition, Wells has known Brown since his his 8th grade year.

Obviously, Walt Wells and EKU have a ton of respect for Barion Brown’s ability to break off a massive kick off return. Wells is (jokingly) willing to go to great lengths to be sure Brown is a non-factor on special teams. Considering that he can’t actually execute his plan to kidnap Brown, maybe the BBN will have a chance to see Brown take another one to the house.
